About this Event

Katie Cobalt is teaching all our local class this block and on Sunday the 24th of March we're organizing an afternoon to geek out on your dancing. There will be different classes to pick from and the whole afternoon we have a dedicated practice room that you can use before and/or after your classes! Registration: https://goo.gl/forms/FnpnOwZjclhFKvWy1 * Schedule * 12:00 - 13:30: Solo for Lindy €15,- 14:15 - 15:45: Solo Jazz Int+/Adv €15,- 16:00 - 18:00: Partnered Invitational €20,- * Class Descriptions * Solo training for Lindy: You can’t dance with someone else until you can dance by yourself! In this workshop we will be looking at some fundamental skills we use all the time in Lindy Hop which we can work on solo. We will be using drills to train our rhythm, footwork and turning skills. This will be a technique heavy class for people who want to get better, particularly if you don’t have a regular practice partner. Solo Jazz: In this class we will be looking at the quality of movement in classic solo jazz shapes. We want to work on dancing with your whole body and not just your feet. How do your shoulders/hips/core move? How can you use your arms or upper body to power the move? This is an intermediate/advanced level class so we expect you to know most basic jazz steps (fall off the log, susie Q, etc) improvise to the music and be able to do your own variations and improvisations. Partnered Invitational: We will be refining our lead and following skills to explore how to best prepare our partners for what’s coming up, and how to listen and react in time. This is a high level workshop were we expect you to know how to lead and follow a variety of shapes and feel comfortable at all tempos. You dance to the music and are able to improvise.
