About this Event
Thursday, September 26th will feature a trio of extraordinary musicians who will play “unplugged”, without microphones, for your dancing pleasure. Maurizio Najt is a well-known regular at Viva Tango and many other events. He played a leading role in the New York Tango revival scene during the late 90’s, performing with New York Tango Trio. He also was a member of Forever Tango Orchestra. Tito Castro is a bandoneon maestro, a living legend as a composer, arranger and performer, who’s been playing his bandoneon for six decades. He was born and lived in Buenos Aires where he started playing bandoneon at age 15. Tito has played at milongas of Buenos Aires during the Golden Age of Tango. Tom Kirchmer is a bassist extraordinaire. He began playing tango with Jorge Anders and Tito Castro in 2001 and recorded the album “Con Polenta” with that trio, named the “Buenos Aires Tango Trio”. He has played with Tito Castro ever since. He has performed on the sound track to Ang Lee's 2007 film "Lust, Caution” and toured Japan with Anna Saeki playing tango with Tito Castro and Maurizio Najt. Between live music sets, our favorite DJ and performer Helen Wang will play her favorite tandas to keep us dancing.
Milonga begins at 7 pm with DJ Helen. First live music set starts approx. at 8:30 pm. $20.
