About this Event

It's time for the Saka Kizomba Talkshow, a Facebook LIVE interview where Samy Vez and Shawndel will have a conversation with guest, Dr. Akuot De Dut. Join us on Friday, June 19th at 7pm CST as we discuss the topic: "Can Face Masks Replace Social Distancing?” Akuot is a general practitioner medical doctor, and co-founder of the South Sudanese Health Professionals Association Covid- 19 Task force. They host weekly Live videos to educate the community in Diaspora and back home in the South Sudan. They also advise the Ministry of Health in South Sudan. Akuot is a polyglot, and she started working as an interpreter of Sudanese Arabic for Dinka and with Language Line service since 2007. Akuot used to work with International Rescue Community as a case worker with Refugees from North Africa, West/East Africa and the Middle East. Akuot also designs African couture-style face masks, some with matching head wraps. We will ask Akuot to reflect on the question "Can Face Masks Replace Social Distancing". With her knowledge of sound healthcare practices and the functioning of face masks, and her experience as an active and enthusiastic social dancer, Akuot is sure to bring an interesting perspective to the table about the safest way back to the social dance floor in the age of COVID-19. Tune in to the SAKA Kizomba USA homepage for the Facebook LIVE feed.
