Live Talk: Growing a Vibrant, Safe, Cohesive Dance Scene

Whether you are a Dallasite or a US based dancer, this show has something for you. Dallasites - do you know your ancestors? It's time to meet the people who had the initiative, courage, passion and commitment to create this scene from scratch. They trained to teach and figured out how to crate a space that people wanted to visit every single Thursday for 4 years in a row. US Based dancers, we know many of you are trying to grow your scene and have heard about the high numbers and consistent gatherings of the Dallas community, this show will give you insight into what elements they put into place to make a community that suffered relatively few tensions between members and organizers, and allowed for communication around some difficult situations. It was a honeymoon time that we want to distill so you can take away ideas for reforming your own community in this time of social change. Guests will include Araceli Castillo also known as DJ Araceli, DJ YUSO Nastay, Ron Bell, Jamie Renee Nelms, and Alex Nieto. These guests are representative of the original instructors, organizers, students and community members. Add to that hosts Shawndel Fraser has been a community member since 2014 and Samy Vez since 2015, it's sure to be a lively conversation as we travel down memory lane with a purpose.
