About this Event
This two room charity event is dedicated to the generous heart of Lynda Gocher who was an ambassador of all dance styles, and organisers from the 80s - 2020s, and creator of the first on-line collective dance listing, Lynda's List.
The event is organised by ‘The Charity Collective’ but it’s not a company or any single organiser as such – it’s just a way of letting you now that the event will be supported and promoted by many, many dance companies, organisers and teachers on the dance scene, and from a variety of backgrounds from Ceroc to Leroc, to Modern Jive, Rock ‘n Roll, Lindy Hop, Swing, WCS and Blues. There were so many people she supported and encouraged!
The 23rd March 2024 would have been Lynda's 80th birthday and a dance party was being planned to mark this special occasion. Sadly Lynda passed away at the end of 2023, so in memory, this event will reflect Lynda's eclectic love of dance and music with the DJs encompassing a variety of genres in their sets.
There will be two rooms of music with 8 amazing DJs and the net proceeds from the event will be split between two charities as specified by Lynda's family: BRCA Protect Research Clinic / The Eve Appeal & Prince Philip Hospital Breast Cancer Unit, Llanelli.
The main room or 'Swing & Spin' as we are calling it this time, will feature, John Baker, David Rokov, Sheena Assiph & Asif Malik bringing an eclectic mix of mid to uptempo music crossing and blending genres. The Blue Chill room will feature Marc Forster, Rachel Pears, Vince Silva and Nigel Anderson playing a mix of Utopia, SILC, Blues and Lyrical slower tempo music.
Utopia as the main organisers, all the promoters, and our generous 8 DJs are working for free to maximise the donation to charity.
We really hope you can join us and help us to raise as much money as we can to help the chosen charities – they really do make a difference and need our support.
Finally, with thanks to the team and Jo Thompson at Ceroc Windsor, for loaning us her venue for this special event. Windsor is one of the longest established Ceroc/Modern Jive nights still operating in the UK with a history that goes back over 30 years; it is therefore a fitting tribute to Lynda for the event to be held there.
Don’t delay, book it now, and make sure you’re on Lynda’s party List!
