Benny and Ashley, the power couple from Portland, will bring a unique course in the fundamentals of mambo to Seattle. In this course, you will not only improve your current knowledge of salsa, you will also be able to distinguish between the different styles of mambo that exist in the world today and how they became the way they are. Follow Benny and Ashley as they take you on an exploration trip to different eras of mambo, unique styles and origin stories. The 18-hour progressive course will span 3 months in 3 weekends from January to March of 2019. The course is called Mambo 101 because the goal is not simply for you to learn footwork and patterns but also in education and understanding of this style of dance. This course is aimed at intermediate level dancers or above. At the completion of the course, you will have an opportunity to audition for their team. Q: Who should take this course? A: Students with some existing fundamentals in salsa that are interested in improving their technique and social dancing skills. Q: Do I need a partner? A: No. We will make sure the class is balanced. Q: What is the schedule? 1. Classic Mambo a) January 26th Sat 12-3:00pm b) January 27th Sun 2:30-5:30pm 2. There will be an audition on the last day of class only for students who has taken the course. In other words, Mambo 101 is a pre-requisite for joining their salsa team.
