Last week was incredible with DJ Jon "Vino" Trevino. Jon delivered an unforgettable music experience for the mambo/salsa dancers of the Nation's Capital! We are back this week to showcase DC's very best mambo/salsa talent! Directing this week's musical voyage is none other than DJ Darwin Peña (suggested by our very own DJ Vino)! DJ Darwin is a real DC salsa veteran, having been the resident DJ of the legendary Habana Village in Adams Morgan for many years. Many know him for his timba repertoire due to his weekly gigs, but within DJ circles, he is well respected for his mambo knowledge. This is a man who knows his music. DJ Darwin will be sharing with us his depth this coming Friday! Helena Hassan, director of the dance company Fusion Urbana DC, will be giving a fantastic mambo/salsa on2 workshop from 9-10pm! Helena is a long time dancer, performer, choreographer, and salsa veteran of the Nation's Capital, having been active for well over a decade and a half. She will be sharing with us what she has learned over the years in her salsa/mambo travels. You don't want to miss the class! All levels are welcomed! Mambo began in Washington, DC on U St 70 years ago. And in a time where salsa/mambo continues to be pushed further out into the suburbs, our mission is to keep salsa/mambo alive and kicking in downtown DC! Mambo is BACK on U St!
