People greet each other, not loudly, but with familiarity — a nod, a smile, the small expression of recognition between those who share time, movement, rhythm. Salsa On2 Footwork class starts, and suddenly the room is beating. It’s not just the count, or the music — it’s the strange kind of tenderness that appears when people learn something together. Steps, mistakes, corrections — the choreography of a community. Later, the lights dim and the music deepens. Two DJs, Stilli and Carpita, standing like quiet conductors of something we cannot name. And then it happens, like it always does. Someone closes their eyes while dancing. Someone finds a step they didn’t know they could do. Someone feels strangely alive. We call it Mambo Club.
