Join Viveza for a fun Salsa On2 Shine where we will learn how to incorporate Son timing! If you are wondering what Son is, let us briefly touch on what it’s all about. Son is a genre of music and dance that originated from Cuba starting back in the early 1900s and over time has been combined with other Latin American styles to help create what we know today as salsa. Salsa is generally danced on the counts 1-2-3 and 5-6-7. If we incorporated Son timing into our dancing, we would still be dancing salsa but would step on the counts 2-3-4 and 6-7-8 emphasizing the 4 and the 8, where the congas and clave hit. Implementing Son timing into your dancing provides another layer of creativity and allows you to play with the instruments in the music in a different way.
