About the dance: The Egyptian folklore-inspired dance Mambouty (Mambouti / Bambouti / Mambooty), also known as a “fishermen's dance,” comes from the northern seaport cities of Alexandria, Port Said, Ismailia and Suez. The dance movements are brisk and cheerful, and include imitative and playful gestures of the work of the fishermen along with different Charleston-styled steps. About your special guest teacher: Danna Yasbet is an award-winning dance artist, captivating audiences everywhere with her illustrious elegance and soulful, earthy technique. Her style is recognized as a blend of authentic and contemporary Egyptian Dance. She was the runner-up soloist of the 2011 RAKSTAR International Competition, and shared the first-place win with Azhar Dance Ensemble in the 2013 USA Belly Dance Queen Competition - Troupe Category.
