MANAWA ECSTATIC DANCE Manawa is a movement. Our mission is to create safe spaces where people can explore and express their inner worlds through Ecstatic Dance and the arts in Tāmaki Makaurau, the ancestral lands of Ngāti Whātua, Tainui, and Ngāti Pāoa. Ecstatic Dance is a free-form movement practice that celebrates self-expression, liberation, and connection. There are no steps to learn and no routines to follow. Instead, participants are invited to move in ways that feel natural and authentic to them, guided by carefully curated sound journeys from our Ecstatic Dance DJs. Through movement, our bodies are given permission to express emotions, feelings, and energies freely. We are invited to lead with our manawa (heart), connecting more deeply with ourselves, one another, and the collective experience. We believe in the profound healing power of self-expression and view it as essential medicine for the soul. Through expression, we not only heal but reconnect with our authentic selves and discover new ways of living from the heart. No dance experience is required. Everyone is welcome exactly as they are. Community Guidelines To help create a safe and supportive space for all participants, we ask that you respect our dance guidelines: No alcohol No shoes No phones No talking on the dance floor We encourage you to wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. Event Information Doors open: 6:00pm Opening Circle: 7:00pm sharp Feel free to bring your hot drink of choice, such as cacao, tea, or another nourishing beverage. Please note that we no longer sell cacao at our Friday dances, so if you would like cacao during the evening, please bring your own. If you are attending Manawa Ecstatic Dance for the first time, please bring $10 cash. New participants are asked to complete a registration form upon arrival. With international experience performing across Ecstatic Dance communities, conscious raves, festivals, and alternative gatherings, her work is rooted in the body as a place of truth, freedom, and power. Rather than simply playing music, she creates emotional landscapes: moments of expansion, catharsis, sensuality, and release. Her sets move between softness and intensity, grounding and explosion, always with the intention of creating genuine connection — with oneself, with others, and with the dance floor as a shared experience.
