Mardi Gras Dance w The House Hoppers!

Come celebrate Mardi Gras with Swing Asheville at The BLOCK with live music by The House Hoppers! There will be swingin' music and the 4th & final class in our Intro to Charleston series. Plus the venue is not only gorgeous, but they have a fabulous bar! ~~~Schedule (short version- see below for details)~~~ 7:30pm: February Class Series: Intro to Charleston (Class 4 of 4) 8:30pm Drop-In "Taster" Lesson for Beginners 9-11pm: Swing AVL Mardi Gras Dance w/The House Hoppers ~~~~~~~~~~~~ PRICING: Dance/Band is $5 (includes blues) and classes are $10/$8 for Swing Asheville members. 8:30pm drop-in lesson is $5 and includes the 9pm dance. Lead by trumpeter & vocalist Mick Glasgow [Low-Down Sires] and featuring a hot lineup of all-star players from Asheville, NC, the House Hoppers bring good-time jazz, rootsy blues & swingin' vintage pop classics back around. FEBRUARY CLASS SERIES 7:30 pm: INTRO TO CHARLESTON (Class 4 of 4 - prior participation required) Dance into the 20's by learning a vintage dance. NO PARTNER NEEDED! Lily and Karolina will be teaching beginner-friendly classes every Tuesday in February. You will learn both solo and partnered movements. ***Please wear comfortable, flat shoes that will stay on your feet (keds, converse, tennis shoes) "Core" lessons stress the fundamentals of swing dancing for beginning dancers. Lessons rotate monthly to focus on a different kind of swing dance. Because good fundamentals are hard to develop in one month, we we are offering Core lessons (on the same topic) to help develop the solid foundation you'll need in continuing classes. Core lessons are also great for intermediate and advanced dancers who want to "get back to basics" or learn a different dancing role (lead vs. follow). ************************* 8:30pm DROP-IN "TASTER" LESSON Come and get the feeling of what swing is all about! We will teach you the basics that you'll be able to use on the dance floor right away! GIFT CERTIFICATES Do you want to buy a gift certificate for our classes as a gift, or to pre-pay for a block of classes for yourself? You can purchase gift certificates at the door at our weekly dance! They are $40 for a block of 4, and a great way to dive into the fun world of dance.
