Head shot of Teaching Artist Mariana Parma Maria Jose Sosa Precise and Elegant Maria Jose is a professional Argentine Tango Instructor & DJ born and raised in Mendoza, Argentina. She started Tango dancing with professional teachers locally and then traveled to Buenos Aires to learn with the best Tango instructors and renowned milongueros such as Ricardo Barrios, Mario Burnissen, Pablo Verón, Melina Brufman, Nito and Elba García, Facundo Posadas, Julio Balmaceda, Corina de La Rosa, Jorge Dispari and Lorena Ermocida. In 2001, she moved to New York City to teach. She has performed at La Guardia Community College, at the Public Theatre ,Wing Theatre, Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center, some TV programs and workshops and participated in festivals in Toronto, Boston, and Cuba. For 20 years, she conducted her tasty "Tango y Te Practica" every Sunday., and organized NYC Woman's Technique Tango Festival. She currently offers comprehensive and detail-oriented private lessons, group lessons, and special workshops. María José has also earned an outstanding reputation as a leading Tango DJ.
