May La Vida Kizomba Monthly Party with Zeca & Hanna!

A huge thank you to those who came out to the first of these monthly parties in April and now we have the 2nd monthly party of May! Zeca will be coming all the way from Manchester to join us for the evening and share his knowledge, experience, music and passion for Kizomba. Here is the programme for the evening. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7.30pm - 9pm Kizomba Workshop - In this workshop Zeca and Hanna will build on the fundamentals to improve your confidence, musicality and connection on any Kizomba dance floor!** 9pm - 10.30pm- 100% Kizomba social with DJ Cubanito. 10.30- 3am- Mixed Kizomba/Bachata/Salsa social with DJ Ami. **£15 for the workshop + free social. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- For a bit more info about our teachers: Manuel Araujo, known by his stage name DJ Cubanito, has dedicated himself to the art of teaching dancing and by DJ-ing since early ages. Born in Angola, he emigrated when he was little with his parents to Portugal, who have always tried to maintain their culture and pass on their love of dancing and music in his life. The influence quickly became his passion and Manuel decided to pursue a career in teaching and DJ-ing. DJ Cubanito has a very distinctive style, which animates the dance floor with his sets and his classes are always full of energy. As one of the teachers who pioneered the kizomba classes in Portugal, he started travelling around the country to promote his passion at several African and Latin events. In 1997, he moved to London and started shaping his international career, teaching and DJ-ing at the main venues, such as Bar Salsa, Bar Rumba, Bar Cuba, Ronnie Scotts and many more. In 2001 he went back to Portugal, where he continued his career teaching and DJ-ing in popular places, such as Salsa Latina, Havana Bar, Bar Hawaii, as well as growing his international influence at congresses in Madrid, Seville, Berlin, Hamburg, London, Manchester, etc. In 2014, he returned to England to teach and DJ at the most popular kizomba events, which took place in venues such as Brittania, Scala (el Grande), Equilibrio, Kizomba Manchester NWALF, Wrexham, across the country and overseas. At the moment he’s a resident in Manchester, where he continues to work as a DJ and as a guest teacher at congresses and events, while running his regular nights: Kizomba Friends & Kizomba Fever, 2 of the most successful kizomba events in the city. His teaching and DJ-ing are focused on making the audience dance and vibrate, and all the musical styles are played with great artistry, accuracy and class. ***************************** Local to Edinburgh, some of you may already know Hanna as part of the Kizomba & Urbankiz La Vida Wednesday’s team with Steven, Martyna and Ergun. From 2006- 2010 Hanna learned several dance genres including Scottish Country Dancing (from her roots growing up in the north of Scotland!), ballroom, hip hop, belly dance and more predominantly salsa and bachata. With a focus on salsa and bachata, Hanna started regularly attending events and festivals across the UK until in 2015 she first came across Kizomba. Falling in love with the rhythm, connection and music, Hanna found her Kizomba feet. From Kizomba, she also discovered Urbankiz and in 2017 competed in the first GB Urbankiz competition, coming 3rd place with her partner Mark. Following the competition, Hanna completed Urbankiz teacher training with Curtis and Carola in Paris and continued her learning and passion by attending festivals across Europe. For the last 2 years Hanna has taught and performed Kizomba and Urbankiz at festivals and events across the UK (from Aberdeen to London!) and in 2018 started the weekly Kizomba and Urbankiz Wednesday nights at La Vida Edinburgh with the team. Known for her infectious joy when dancing as a leader or follower, and her playful style and musicality, Hanna is thrilled to be working with Zeca Cubanito to bring these monthly Kizomba parties to life in her home community of Edinburgh!
