MAYKEL FONTS ************** Maykel Fonts is internationally recognised as one of the most gifted, charismatic and influential Latin dance performers and choreographers of his generation. Having graduated from the Tropicana Dance School in Cuba where he studied ballet, contemporary dance, afro and rumba (Yambú, Guaguancó and Columbia), Maykel has studied with such internationally acclaimed teachers as Virgilio Pitzalis, Marco Macchetti, Steve La Chance, Gus Bemberry, Christopher Uggins, Chacalli and Paganini. As a result of his immense talent, musical interpretation skills and gifted choreography, Maykel has performed in almost every prestigious dance congress in the world, winning first prize in both the Best Choreography and Best Dancer categories in the 2006 World Salsa Congress. He has toured with many famous Cuban bands such as the Buena Vista Social Club and Havana De Primera, choreographing and starring in the latter’s video ‘Al Final de la Vida’. In 2013 Maykel duetted with Maykel Blanco in the hit single, ‘Dale Lo Que Lleva’, and in 2015 he again featured with Maykel Blanco in the video ‘Mira Mia’. He has also choreographed and starred in the movies ‘Street Dance 2’ (2012) and ‘The Latin Dream’ (2017). He is also a regular on Italian TV, having been one of the professional dancers in Bailando Con le Stelles, the Italian equivalent of ‘Dancing with the Stars’, for many years.
