MCDC Conscious Dance 12 05: Finn and Devi River

COME GET YOUR SHORTCUT TO HAPPINESS AND DANCE! Join the Maui Conscious Dance Collective Wednesday December 5 from 5:30pm for a heart-opening dance experience! Devi and Finn's Dancing Heart Journeys take dancers on an exuberant dance adventure that invokes a wide range of movement and release. Their musical landscapes are inspired by years of studying conscious and other dance forms. They love their passionate Maui home tribe and are co-founding managers of the Maui Conscious Dance Collective. "Dance is a magical and healing way to experience aliveness and connection. Moving beyond our notions of separation, we can dance heart to heart, celebrating our true nature of love." No experience required! Please bring plenty of water and wear clothes that allow you to move freely. Donations are sliding scale $15 -$20. We do not turn dancers away for lack of funds. Please inquire in advance about possible work trades for take down (7:20-7:45). WHAT TO EXPECT AT OUR BAREFOOT DANCES? An MCDC dance consists of two waves, each offering a wide and stimulating variety of musical styles and rhythms. Our dances are usually facilitated with very few words. We start the dance with stretching and gentle movement, inviting you to connect with yourself and truly arrive in your body. Our waves then steadily build into a crescendo so we can share our hearts and "sweat our prayers," as Gabrielle Roth, the mother of conscious dance, called it. We end the dance in unity and peace by chanting three rolling aums together. MCDC'S 7 CONSCIOUS DANCING AGREEMENTS 1. Dancing is our preferred language and we invite you to save conversations for outside. 2. We encourage you to savor your solo dances, especially in the beginning of our dance. We also invite you to dance with others and ask that you do so with consent. Please use eye contact and other body language (hands, feet) to confirm that the other dancer is up for connecting. Many usually are! 3. Illegal substances and alcohol are not to be consumed anywhere on the Makawao Union Church property. 4. We dance in a way that is physically safe for all. Please keep feet below the waist when lifting other dancers. We only allow children and dogs on the dance floor when they are held in arms. 5. If you experience any difficulties on the dance floor, please find an MCDC team member and we will do our best to support you. 6. We limit announcements after dance to only those of great communal concern. Please let us know in advance if you would like to make such an announcement. 7.
