MCDC Conscious Dance 5 1: Beth Hird (Open Floor)

COME DANCE YOURSELF FREE! Join MCDC for our mid-week dance reset with Beth Hird Wednesday May 1! Beth has been facilitating for the Maui Conscious Dance Collective over the past year and is an Open Floor and Core Connexion teacher. She studied with 5Rhythms founder Gabrielle Roth as well as with Soul Motion teachers Arjuna and Zuza. Beth is also the founding director of Dancing Paintbrush Studio, where she has held over a hundred Paint Dancing sessions. Our barefoot conscious dances require no experience, just your open heart. We recommend that you treat your body and soul to the wonderful fullness of our entire dance journey so arrive on time if you can. Our doors open at 5:20pm. Donations are $15 - $20. MCDC does not turn dancers away for lack of funds. Please inquire about available half-price work trades (take-down from 7:20-7:40). MCDC dances at the Makawao Union Church Community Hall every Wednesday from 5:30 - 7:20pm, and two Saturdays every month from 6:30 - 9:30pm. Dance is our chosen language and we thank you for your sacred silence on the dance floor. 2. We encourage you to savor your solo dances, especially in the beginning of the dance, so you can truly connect with yourself. We also invite you to dance with others and ask that you do so with consent. Please use eye contact and other body language (hands, feet) to confirm that the other dancer is up for connecting. Many usually are! 3. Illegal substances and alcohol are not allowed anywhere on the Makawao Union Church property. 4. We dance in a way that is physically safe for all. Please keep feet below the waist when lifting other dancers. We only allow children and dogs on the dance floor when they are held in arms. 5. If you experience any difficulties on the dance floor, please find an MCDC team member and we will do our best to support you. 6. Spontaneous singing, circling, clapping and other expressions of joy happen often at our dances! 7. We limit announcements after dance to only those of non-profit and communal concern.
