Mediterranea - Contact Improvisation Gathering

Mediterranea è un incontro residenziale di sei giorni, dal 20 al 25 ottobre 2026, in Sicilia, dedicato alla Contact Improvisation come pratica di ricerca, relazione e presenza. Nasce dal desiderio di radicare e far crescere una comunità di praticanti nel Sud Italia, aprendosi allo stesso tempo a un orizzonte più ampio: il Mediterraneo come spazio vivo di scambio e futuro. Oggi, in un tempo segnato da separazioni, confini e tensioni, sentiamo l’urgenza di tornare al corpo e alla pratica come forma di resistenza gentile. Danzare qui, in Sicilia, al centro del Mediterraneo, è per noi un atto politico e poetico: Un invito a ritrovarsi in uno spazio-tempo diverso e condiviso dedicato alla pratica, alla ricerca e allo scambio, dove la Contact Improvisation dialoga con altre arti e si lascia nutrire. Per questa prima edizione, saranno con noi Elisa Ghion e Mela Belletto, che condivideranno le loro pratiche e contribuiranno a nutrire il processo con il loro sguardo, la loro esperienza e la loro sensibilità , aprendo spazi di laboratorio e ricerca all’interno del percorso durante la settimana. Le giornate avranno un ritmo semplice e vivo: la mattina classi seguite da jam; il pomeriggio jams, score e spazi di ricerca aperta; la sera tempo di incontro e condivisione — nella danza e oltre la danza. Immaginiamo questo incontro come l’inizio di un movimento più ampio: una rete mediterranea della Contact Improvisation, che connette danzatori, facilitatori e comunità tra coste e culture diverse. Mediterranea Team 🌷 ----------------------------------------------- Mediterranea is a six-day residential gathering, from October 20 to 25, 2026, in Sicily, dedicated to Contact Improvisation as a practice of research, relationship, and presence. It arises from the desire to root and grow a community of practitioners in Southern Italy, while at the same time opening to a wider horizon: the Mediterranean as a living space of exchange and future. Today, in a time marked by separation, borders, and tension, we feel the urgency to return to the body and to practice as a form of gentle resistance. Dancing here, in Sicily, at the heart of the Mediterranean, is for us both a political and poetic act: an invitation to come together in a different, shared space-time dedicated to practice, research, and exchange, where Contact Improvisation dialogues with other arts and allows itself to be nourished by them. For this first edition, Elisa Ghion and Mela Belletto will be with us, sharing their practices and contributing to the process with their perspective, experience, and sensitivity, opening spaces for workshops and research throughout the week. The days will follow a simple and vibrant rhythm: in the morning, classes followed by jam sessions; in the afternoon, jams, scores, and open research spaces; in the evening, time for meeting and sharing — in dance and beyond dance. We imagine this gathering as the beginning of a broader movement: a Mediterranean Contact Improvisation network, connecting dancers, facilitators, and communities across different coasts and cultures.
