About this Event
IMPORTANT: RESCHEDULED FOR 1/17/25 (SEE DISCUSSION)
Update 1/13/25: In light of the fires and ongoing relief efforts, Melty Micro will be donating all income from this Friday's event to Pasadena Humane, which has been taking care of over 300 animals, coming in with injuries and burns from the fires. We look forward to dancing with you and supporting a critical need.

--------------
This month's theme is Isolations. One of the best parts of micro is that with slower and smaller movements, we can hit more musical cues than in almost any other dance style. In today's workshop, we'll go over some traditional and not-so-traditional isolations, as well as show examples of how we can use these to melt into the music.
The music for the social will also feature musically intricate songs, as well as songs for which isolations will fit well.
Micro, often short for microfusion, is a style of partner dance that focuses on using "micro" movements and a strong connection with our partner to allow ourselves to melt deeply into the music. While there is no official basic step for micro, dancers often rely on synced breath, tiny weight shifts, body isolations, and changing energy levels to further embody the music.
For our friends who haven't been to a micro event - if you've been to a late-night zouk, blues, kizomba, or similar event, you'll feel right at home!
This is a micro-only event, so leave your grand movements at home, and bring your grand musicality, isolations, and artistic spirit!

FAQ:
Anything I should be aware of about the space?
Please be respectful of the space! Most importantly, please do not touch the mirrors, and do protect the floor by wearing flats or wide heels. No spiked heels!
Food/drink?
There is a small lobby where you can eat food you've brought. Please no food or drink besides water in the studio. Water will be available for refilling water bottles (no water bottles will be provided, please bring your own!).
Parking?
We recommend parking on Robertson if available. Though if you need to park on a side street, we are happy to help you find someone to walk you back to your car! If you do park on a side street, please be mindful of noise as the studio is in a quiet neighborhood. Finally, if you generally feel safe walking in LA, please consider leaving closer spots available for those who do not.
