About this Event
This will be a 4 part series starting Nov. 16th, skipping thanksgiving and continuing Nov 30th, Dec 7th, and Dec 14th.
This will be a closed group container, the first class will be open to gauge your interest and after that, we will ask for full participation for the next 3 classes.
This space is reserved for male-identified bodies.
Intention: For a group of men to gather and drop in deeply, through movement, silence, sounds, and words.
You can expect centering, facilitated and improvisational movement, music/silence, authentic sharing, laughter, and tears. You can expect in the moment to relate and develop awareness of stimulation both internally and externally.
You will be asked: to slow down, open up, be honest about what is happening inside you, move, be still, be silent, and make sound.
Series Structure:
The first 3 classes will be creating group cohesion with light-facilitated contact concepts and practices with space to flow freely with the group and in the end, be able to share from the experience.
The last class will be an ecstatic dance journey curated by Hunter the Gatherer.
Price: Sliding scale of $80-$160 for the 4 weeks
If you have any questions and/or are interested please reach out to me privately!
See you on the dance floor!!
Facilitators:
Hunter Ball: Dancer, DJ, Co-Founder of New Moon Brotherhood. Hunter brings his embodied practice and passion for dance and movement as a way to understand himself more; needs, desires, boundaries, etc. Hunter has been leading groups of Men for over 3 years and has taught men's workshops at many different festivals across the country and the globe. His excitement is to combine these two parts of his life and believes that there is a lot to be learned on the dancefloor with other men.
Michael Hurd: I started dancing in the late 90's NYC rave scene. "Drop till ya dance" was the motto. Eventually the 'supplements' seemed superfluous and I danced (improvisationally) every chance I got. When I found contact improvisation, music became extraneous. I got a master's degree in counseling, did the Somatic Experiencing training, and have been a somatic therapist for a decade. NVC (aka compassionate communication) has been a big part of the path as well. Learning equally as often from failure as success, I deeply enjoy sharing what I've picked up. I make no claim to be without fault or to be a master of anything. I'm learning and growing and like to do that with others when possible.
