MEN'S DANCE: A Place to Find Center, Together... hosted by Denver Ecstatic Dance in collaboration with Boulder Ecstatic Dance, Rhythm Sanctuary and the Men's Movement Collective 03/11, 04/01 and 05/13 Highlands Masonic Center, Grand Ballroom 6:30-7: movement with Matthew Cavanna 7-8:30: DJ set by SUNDRAGON 8:30 - 9:30: Men’s circle with Matthew, Danny Balgooyen and the collective *All people who identify as a man are welcome. *We request that attendees attend the whole event to keep the container solid. Doors will close at 6:45pm. *The men's dance will continue the SECOND Wednesday of the month on April 8 and May 13. The primary intention of this first mens dance is to discover what we need and want from dancing together. With movement, music and conversation we will explore what masculinity means to us as individuals and as a group Being a man has likely always been dynamic and complex, as "masculinity" emerges in response to the biological and social/cultural forces acting upon it. We are in a time of rapid change as the societal, cultural, and even biological forces that have shaped masculinity continue to shift. Our hope is that this dance can help us move forward with that shift in heart-centered ways that benefit all. By exploring masculinity in an open and curious we hope this event can deepen our capacity to a man of integrity in the world. WHAT WE WANT TO EXPLORE: -Connecting with a fuller range of masculinity. -Sharing our struggles and challenges as men. -Navigating boundaries: A calling IN to encourage more maturity and response- ability amongst men. -Playing together with more physicality and energy. -Deepening awareness of our impact in the spaces we occupy and on each other. -Tuning into our own needs and boundaries and practicing consent with ourselves first. -A mutually supportive balance between strength and vulnerability -Getting contact and intimacy and needs met by each other. -Creating community for men who can often feel alone in the world. -Engaging with the feminine parts of ourselves in a healthy way.
