Metamorphosis Zouk Workshop with Sydney Schiff

We'll begin with a juicy full body warm up (wear comfortable clothing you can move in), learn zouk syllabus footwork for leads and follows (that you can train solo to improve even without a partner!), and put it all together in partnership. After a break, we'll dig deep into body movement for zoukers, connection, musicality, and creativity. For the last hour, we'll put it all together in a guided prática/lab/q&a with the artist. Sydney Schiff is a life-long classically trained contemporary dancer, choreographer, teacher, and scholar with an MFA in Dance from the University of Michigan (where she also co-founded ZoukMi). Since she fell head-over-heels in love with Brazilian Zouk 6 years ago, she has traveled the world to study and teach this delicious and diverse dance. Shortly before the pandemic, she settled in Chicago where she started Newport Zouk University, Chicago's only regular 100% Zouk party with two levels of drop-in classes. In addition, she is a solo performer and the director of Evolución Latina Dance Company ELEMENTS Contemporary dance and performance team. Drop in on Mondays for Contemporary, every other Wednesday for Zouk, catch her for privates in Chicago and on tour, and keep an eye out for her workshops, shows, and social dancing at Zouk and Latin Dance events. For the first 15 months of the pandemic, she taught daily online solo training classes for Zoukers to keep people moving, motivated, and connected around the world.
