About this Event
Hello Friends!
*UPDATE: Event will be moved to the Reliquarium from 5-8p*
As the temperatures start to warm up again we quickly turn our attention to the sun. Feeling so much gratitude for the importance of such an existence. It boosts our energy, it gives life to the greenery all around us, it grows our food and nourishes wildlife. In all cultures the sun is revered for its' consistency and for its' power.
Join us on June 24th at Lincoln Woods for a special evening of community & ceremony.
CACAO CEREMONY
We have the option to work with plant medicine cacao for this ecstatic dance! We will be having a guided ceremony to honor the healing and wisdom this plant brings us. Please bring your own cup/mug if you plan on participating!
PRIMAL PULSE MOVEMENT CEREMONY
Primal pulse is guided movement ceremony that utilizes elemental alchemy to open channels of the subtle energetic and physical bodies. The practice is led by its creatrix Rahlüne, a trauma-informed somatic intimacy mentor. It combines both Yin and Yang, nonlinear and linear approaches to movement and is suitable for bodies of all gender expressions, ages and abilities as it is playful, exploratory and invitational in nature. Meaning: you can’t get it wrong!
Please join us for this Ecstatic Dance opening journey with a relaxed mind, present heart and curious body. And know that ALL of you is welcome. See you there!
ECSTATIC DANCE
Matt Carey is a music producer, DJ, and live performer based in
Providence, Rhode Island. He has performed on festival stages across Central America and the United States for over a decade. As a solo performer and member of the live house trio "Agents of Vibe," Matt has been direct support to well-known acts such as Bonobo, Atish, Francesca Lombardo, Thomas Jack, Thugfucker, and Kate Simko. He has released multiple original albums and has tracks on respected record labels including HotBoi Records, Soul Clap Records, Psicodelica, StayBad, and Bar 25 Records.
Ecstatic dance is a form of expression that is done in a group setting with intention of connecting to the body and relaxing the mind. There is evidence of ecstatic dance practices going back to the beginning of mankind, but has now popularized in Western culture since the early 2000's. This activity is done barefoot and there is no talking or cellphone use during the ecstatic dance portion to ensure connection with the Earth and the music. Feel free to dance, sit, stretch, observe, or just hang out and enjoy the music!
MEET YOUR HOST
Mae Boyington has been bringing unique and mindful events to CT and RI. Mae hosts ecstatic dances that feature guided yoga, sound healing and cacao ceremonies, also aerial and shibari focused EDM events. With back grounds in dance, yoga and meditation, Mae has been juggling, flowing with poi, hula hoop, dragon staff, levitation wand, and silk fans. With any of their events the goal is to bring together dance, music and community to create a space to let go and explore. Movement and community can be incredibly healing and creating spaces where that is encouraged is so important, yet can be hard to come by. Finding places where you can socialize and explore your own body in a safe judgement-free environment can be difficult and sometimes costly. When you need a little excitement and reconnection to rejuvenate yourself from daily life, look no further! We welcome you.
Tickets are a $30 exchange.
This is a judgement free zone! We want to cultivate a community where everyone feels welcomed and free to express themselves.
