THIS FRIDAY JUNE 2ND SPECIAL GUEST TEACHER Oxana Chernikova From Bay Area, CA Guest Dj Carlitos De Chuy From NYC/ Buenos Aires ''Oxana is a professional Argentine tango dancer and teacher in the Bay Area. She has danced all her life and has studied a wide range of styles, including belly dance, ballet, ballroom, and salsa. She has also practiced kundalini and hatha yoga, and taught fitness classes in Russia. Previously a lawyer by profession, she began dancing tango in 2010 and has made it her life. She studied with all the greatest maestros who visited Moscow and now San Francisco. For Oxana learning tango is a puzzle to which everybody contributes a vital piece. This is why she loves social dancing. She loves feeling the different energies that come from different people. Oxana's inherent personality is that of a performer and she has always felt natural expressing herself in front of others and being seen. She also loves the creative, communicative, and intellectual challenges of teaching tango, and sees teaching as an integral part of her own artistic evolution. She has performed and taught with many tangueros. Although Oxana has worked with many different tango styles, tango salon is her favourite. She loves the infinite depth of feeling at the core of tango salon, whose simple movements lead to beautiful experiences. Her favourite salon-style dancers Geraldin Rojas and Ezequiel Paludi inspire her with their dance's emotional authenticity. “Opening your heart is the most difficult thing to do,” she says. Oxana has taught tango here in the Bay Area since July 2013, with Guillermo García, Adolfo Caszarry, Ivan Schvartz, and Ashvin Iyer, to name a few.
