About this Event

Milonga Mi Refugio (My refuge/My Shelter) is a tango dancing night organized by houston tango dancers to support human rights organizations. It is meant to give people a chance to dance and be an activist at the same time. The event is open to everyone. So if you haven't danced tango this event will be a perfect chance for you to learn tango, and get to see what a tango dancing night in Houston looks like. There will be a beginners class to introduce new people to tango, performances by our talented dancers, tango accessories, a raffle, delicious snacks, and dancing the most beautiful tango music. This time we are choosing the American Civil Liberties Union of Houston (ACLU-Houston) as the recipient of our donations. The ACLU has a long standing record of standing in defence of the of free speech, LGBT equality, women’s rights, racial justice, the rights of immigrants, reproductive freedom, and equal treatment.
