Milonga with Bandonegro at Ashkenaz: live tango music, Sun. Nov. 3rd

6:45 pm: doors open 7:00-8:00 pm: tango class 8:00-12:00 pm: milonga 8:30 pm: first live set begins Bandonegro is a world-class tango orchestra, among the most original and recognizable performers of the genre. The ensemble plays traditional Argentine tango, tango nuevo, and original compositions influenced by jazz. They have extraordinary passion, fresh sound, and a unique style that is perfect for dancing. All four members of Bandonegro were born in Poznań, Poland, and have been playing music together since they were kids. The musicians are Michał Główka, (bandoneon), Jakub Czechowicz (violin), Marek Dolecki (piano), and Marcin Antkowiak (double bass). The tango class is taught by Luz Castineiras, a Bay Area tango teacher who was born and raised in Buenos Aires. Luz is a heart-and-soul tango dancer, and her dance communicates her strength and her knowledge of the music.​ In her classes, students are encouraged to explore tango techniques, connection and musicality. DJ Diego Zubiat plays tango music for dancing during the breaks. Ashkenaz has great sound quality and a wooden floor with plenty of space for dancing. Beer, wine, non-alcoholic drinks, and vegetarian empanadas are offered for sale.
