MINIMAL IMPROVISATION RESEARCH

15:00-18:00 Workshop An opportunity to get a look into our research on improvisation in music and movement. We offer exercises and scores focussing on different aspects of our approach. Bring comfy clothes. 18:30-19:30 Presentation & Talk A showing of results of our current research period in Greenhouse (14th-23rd of September). Performers: Jennie Zimmermann, Gisbert Schürig, Christin Dross, Sebastian Flaig, Gali Kinkulin, Vincenz Kokot About: We are a group of musicians and dancers researching the possibilities of repeating patterns in movement and sound. In doing so, we put special emphasis on subtle variations and gradual change in a context of improvisational interaction. Core members are Jennie Zimmermann, Naïma Ferré and Gisbert Schürig. Inspirations range from contact improvisation, dervish whirling practice, minimal music and pygmy chanting etc. We strive for finding and cultivating specific forms to build an open canon of options within minimal improvisation that may be used for performances or jams. Über uns: Wir - Jennie Zimmermann, Naïma Ferré und Gisbert Schürig - erkunden mit einer Gruppe von MusikerInnen und TänzerInnen die Möglichkeiten wiederholter Klang- und Bewegungspatterns. Besonderes Augenmerk richten wir dabei auf graduelle Veränderung im Prozess improvisatorischer Interaktion. Contact Improvisation, der Tanz der Derwische um die eigene Achse, Minimal Music und die Gesänge der Pygmäen etc. sind dabei wichtige Inspirationen. Langfristig geht es uns darum, spezifische Formen zu finden und zu kultivieren um einen offenen Kanon an Möglichkeiten zusammenzutragen, der dann als Grundlage für Aufführungen und Jams dienen kann.
