Kizomba Public Great Room Hartford Union Station It started back on November 11, 2015, when Kizomba Hartford celebrated the the 40th Anniversary of Independence of Angola at the Union Station Great Room. On that day, Kizomba Hartford was awarded a Citation by the Office of the Mayor of the City of Hartford for being Kizomba Ambassadors! Also, 11.11.15 was proclaimed "Angolan Kizomba Day" in the City of Hartford by Mayor Pedro Segarra. In the summer of 2015, Kizomba Hartford hosted its first Mobbinmeetup at the Hartford Riverfront. Dancing Kizomba anywhere is a stimulating experience. Dancing outdoors in the summer breeze by the water was a especially a fascinating experience because we engaged the public in an art form that they had never seen before. We created Kizomba awareness!! We followed up in fall with an outdoor Mobbin Meetup at Elizabeth Park at Sunnrise Outlook. Dancing in the beautiful Great Room every week on Mondays has been a beautifilly similar experience, indoors, while connecting with people new to Kizomba Dance from Angola on a regular, consisten basis and at a time and place we can look forward to in peace, knowing and appreciating that we have Kizomba in Hartford. The idea and concept of Kizomba Public at the train station was inspired by world citizen and North American Kizomba pioneer Rachael Cassandra, a Master Teaching Artist, Journalist and Educator based in Philadelphia. We love the concept and find it an awesome way to share this beautiful dance from Angola with all of you.
