Movement Artisans Summer Residency in Sweden, 8 days immersion in Contact Improvisation and Axis Syllabus by the Baltic Sea. Arrival: Friday, July 21st Departure: Saturday, July 29th This summer, we have decided to move with you to Sweden! The residency will take place in a nature-embedded environment at the Baltic Sea, in a 150 years old community college, 2 hours from Stockholm. 8 days of Contact Improvisation and Axis Syllabus with Kira Kirsch, Antoine Ragot and their special guest Katja Mustonen, stewarding the journey. It has been such a pleasure this year to weave the musings of Katja into our Movement Artisans program in Berlin that we decided to embark on a residential journey this summer sharing and deepening this collaboration. We welcome you to 8 days of daily classes, laboratories, open space, jams, conference, sauna, fireplace and walks in nature… As a team of passionate dance researchers and contact improvisation practitioners, we are dedicated to weave together our individual strengths and qualities to provide an inspiring, supportive and inclusive environment for discovery, growth, connection, and lots of dancing together. SCHEDULE Friday, July 21st afternoon: Arrival, Registration, Set yourself up (accommodation and dance studio available) and discover the surrounding area 19.30h: Arrival Jam! Saturday, July 29th: Morning session, lunch and departure We will weave 2 to 3 sessions a day of classes, jams, restorative space and labs We are envisioning a performance evening and a conference evening Tuesday, a morning session only, the rest of the day is free for all TEACHING TEAM Kira Kirsch is a dance artist, dance educator, dance researcher and community builder. Based in Berlin since 2015 she has been collaborating in building a furthering educational program for dance & movement professionals at LAKE Studios under the name of “Movement Artisans”, created an annual festival called “Sensing In” and hosted several dance research residencies and symposiums at LAKE Studios and Tanzfabrik developing and collecting collaborative research methodologies for dancers at the intersection of art, science and transmission. She has been a regular guest teacher at the HZT Bachelor and Master program and teaches internationally. Her artistic work is deeply influenced by her 7 years in San Francisco dancing with Sara Shelton Mann, Avi K.productions or Nita Little & the Divisadero Research Company among many others. Recent projects that call in and seek to embody untold stories and portraying unseen relations include dance films, music videos, touch residencies and site specific works. Kira is also a passionate contact improviser. Antoine Ragot was born in Poitiers, France and is now based in Berlin, Lake Studios, where he currently runs a yearly movement education program together with Kira Kirsch. Today, Antoine brings many years of teaching contact improvisation, improvisation, sports and early motor development to his fastidious bent for research and sharing of the Axis Syllabus, of which he is a certified teacher and certifier. He is involved in various dance communities and teaches and crafts dances, as well as research and study movement relentlessly. For more information about Antoine’s vision and activities go to www.movementartisans.net Katja Mustonen is a Finnish dancer, teacher and dance maker, who is currently based in Kuopio. She graduated from the Vocational Dance School in Outukumpu, Finland 2004 as dancer, and holds a MA degree in „Contemporary Dance Education“ from the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt, Germany. Since 2008, she’s been teaching Contemporary Dance, Improvisation and Contact Improvisation internally. She is curious about the states of presence and the body’s ability to transform, embody, and transmit images, into knowledge, emotions and atmosphere’s. She is interested in jointing photography, video and text among other interdisciplinary approaches into her artistic work and continues be in awe with the dance as her teacher. For the last 14 years, Ieva has been creating inspiring experiential learning opportunities through the body in various contexts and different countries. Ieva is a Master student in Dance Science at the University of Bern (CH) at the moment, with a BA in Dance Education ( LT) and Contemporary Dance performance degree (Scotland).
