About this Event

A 90-minute guided Movement Journey designed to complement Contact Improvisation and welcome newcomers into dance and embodied movement. Friday March 27 Time: Movement Journey: 6:30–8:00pm Contact Improvisation Jam: 8:00–8:30pm Location: Anglican Church, Erskineville This workshop is designed to complement and enrich a Contact Improvisation practice, while remaining fully open and accessible to the wider public — no dance or CI experience required. For contact improvisers, this session offers a chance to: • deepen body listening and somatic awareness • soften habitual movement patterns • reconnect with sensation, impulse, and inner timing • explore weight, responsiveness, and presence before touch For those new to dance or movement, Movement Journey provides a gentle, playful, and embodied entry point into movement — focusing on freedom, curiosity, and self-trust rather than technique or performance. The class is guided through imagery, sensation, breath, and intuitive movement, supporting dancers to arrive more grounded, open, and available — qualities that naturally translate into richer, more responsive contact. Following the workshop, participants are warmly invited to stay for a 30-minute Contact Improvisation Jam, offering the opportunity to integrate, observe, or participate at your own pace. No experience needed. All bodies welcome. This class runs alongside a weekly CI session (the 8-8.30 jam is the joining of our two classes together).
