About this Event
Welcome all movers to this verrrrry special event.....
Moving Forms is an expressive movement intensive.
You are invited to spend 6 days which culminated in a performance, with 3 diverse and experienced practitioners:
Prashant More, Guru Suraj, Melissa Eveleigh
We'll work with practice drawn from contemporary dance, floorwork, contact impro, and physical theatre.
Movers will explore different choreographic approaches to performance, challenge your imagination and your form, apply flying low, contact improvisation and embodiment of nature and emotions to creating performance.
Through four sessions each day you will explore 3 approaches exploring the human relationships, and translating human dynamics into the physical space: making the invisible, visible.
Prashant will explore 'Breaking Points'
This Physical Movement Practice offers, a dancer/mover to critically develop a skill-set and physical intelligence by actively deconstructing the current movement vocabulary a mover has, in order to create a risk-based space for exploration leading to an encountering of the next physical challenge that pushes the body to go deep into their own dance language derived consciously through stepping out of one's comfort zone.
Guru will share his practice, developed over many years of study in various somatic and artistic teachings, which have taught Guru to be open and flexible in joining traditional systems of practice and other different methodologies. Guru has been dedicated to sharing his experience and knowledge of CI by teaching internationally (including festivals in Thailand, Moldova, Canada) and throughout India. Together with other first Indian practitioners of CI, he founded Contact Improv India (CII) - an organization that focuses on spreading Contact Improvisation around India, making it accessible to everybody, and researching into merging different forms of creative expression.
Melissa will combine emotional embodiment, breath choreography, push-pull and touch to find simple journeys that express something of the infinitely complex nature of the changing relationship we have to each other.
