MUSICALITY MAGIC - A special 4-week course with JOSHUA MCLEAN

Prepare to dive deeply into the world of different styles of Jazz and Swing music in this special 4-week course. By the end of this course you will be able to: -Recognize, count, and "feel" different styles of Jazz music. -Connect these different styles to varying Jazz dances that can be lead and followed on the social dance floor. Moving beyond those basic foundations, you will be able to: -Identify song structures. -Learn specific music terminology. -Discern which instruments are playing. -Count and dance rhythms. -Anticipate breaks, bridges, rhythms, and recognize repetition -Express different types of sounds with your body. -How basic Lindy hop and Charleston movement relates to swing music. -Create new rhythms. -Listen to music while simultaneously dancing. -Combine musical improvisation with good communication and partner dancing. -Adapt common dance patterns to fit the music. -Create your own variations to music. -Use repetition, call and response, and dynamics in your dancing. Perhaps you are a fairly new dancer looking to improve your skills, or you are a seasoned dancer looking to solidify your craft. No matter what your background is, this course is for you.
