About this Event

The idea of the workshop is to make you more musically aware of Salsa music. We will start to show you how to use the techniques and moves you learned in the weekly classes to express your own version of each song in the dance floor! This workshop is FREE for Salsa Society members. Every level from Improvers or higher are welcomed. 1. Main Instruments in Salsa: - clave - conga - cowbell - bass - piano 2. Structure of Salsa Songs: - intro, cuerpo/verse, chorus, montuno, mambo, outro (bridges and breaks) - how to identify different parts and adjust your dancing to them 3. Different Styles of Salsa - what instruments and arrangements are more dominant in different types of salsa music: mambo, salsa romantica, cuban salsa (timba), salsaton (salsa+reggeaton). - how can you adapt your dance to the style PS: The styles mentioned are not an exhaustive list of music styles! Luckly salsa is so rich that cali/colombian salsa, son-montuno, son, bolero-son, afro rumba, latin jazz and many others are all part of the melting pot we label as SALSA!
