My First Steps in Neotango Beginner Course February 4 Weeks!

Neotango is a contemporary evolution of Argentine tango. Rather than replacing classical tango, it reinterprets it with modern influences, emerging in the 1990s and 2000s. It is danced at neolongas and festivals to electronic tango, nuevo tango, and even fusions with rock, jazz, world music, or electronic sounds. Based on traditional tango technique (walking, turns, embrace, connection), neotango opens space for creativity, improvisation, and freedom. Embraces may shift between close and open, depending on the music, and movements often draw inspiration from other dances like contemporary, salsa, or contact improvisation. This course will give you the tools and experience to dance socially at a neolonga (modern tango event). No previous tango or dance experience is needed – just come with an open mind and comfortable shoes! 🎓 What you’ll learn – Weekly Program: Thursday 12.02 – Week 1 (18:00–19:30): ✔ Connection with your partner ✔ Walking technique ✔ Pivots and ochos Thursday 19.02 – Week 2 (18:00–19:30): ✔ Giros (turns) ✔ Changes of direction Thursday 26.02 – Week 3 (18:00–19:30): ✔ Barridas (sweeps) Thursday 05.03 – Week 4 (18:00–19:30): ✔ Soltadas (open movements) ✔ Improvisation and musicality 🎯 Course goal: By the end of the course, you’ll be able to dance with different partners at a neolonga, using a variety of techniques with musicality and creativity. 👫 Do I need a partner? No partner required – we will rotate partners during class (rotation is optional).
