Fourteen times in a row NAH MEAN proved to be the hottest Dancehall, Reggae and Afro sensation in the western part of Belgium. Some even suggest in the entire country. More then crediting DAMP or the deejays and emcees, we have to hail the origin of Dancehall and Reggae culture, the foundation of Rap, Dub, Jungle, D'n'B and so on. With the death of Bob Marley in 1981, Jamaican music lost its international ambassador. At the same time, a new mutation of the island's music, Dancehall, was emerging in its ghettos. Provocative in tone, this new genre became people's only release from the pressures of everyday life. While the West searched desperately for the "next Bob Marley", Jamaica was busy reinventing itself once again. The deep selection of selecta Jah Mike ensures a thick roots & dub party on inter- and outernational events. Over the years Jah Mike and his Black Pearl vibe became a legacy in the Belgian dub scene. We are honoured to have Black Pearl in our hometown! Tempest Sound System This remarkably young sound crew built their state of the art soundsystem in 2017. The four headed crew with emcees and selectors handles the sound as true professionals. Their selection stretches from Roots and Rub-a-dub to heavy weight Digital Steppers. This sound is intentionally and technically made to shake to world with heavy basses. Keep an eye on these guys! Dub-Up HiFi Dub-Up Hifi was established late 2016 to bring reggae music in a soundsystem style to the people. A new sound in town with firm roots in the reggae & dub community. Operator Dubgrow has been selecting aswell as organising the Dub-up & Tacticz sessions for many years. Selecta Samwise regulary plays as Jah Frequency and hosts his Frequency Radioshow for 3 years now. Little Lion completes the trio as MC. Together they bring crucial roots, heavy dubwise & good vibes on their 6 scoop soundsystem in the dance. Sjamanic Soundsystem Hailing from Brugge, they represent a solid roots selection. The young but steady sound was formerly known as Black Paw Soundsystem, but decided to put the emphasis more on the essence of their musical presentation: the spirit within. The Sjamanic crew is ready to get you higher! -- ∞ DANCEHALL ∞ by Team DAMP ∞ -- Jugglerz Dj Meska and Shotta Paul are among the most succesful Reggae Djs worldwide. Building on their fame, they use the label, the radioshow and their events to develop Jugglerz into one of the biggest names for Dancehall Reggae from and in Germany. The label released productions with international Chart-toppers Beenie Man, Konshens or Romain. Jugglerz is also a famous Soundclash killer. They won trophys in battles against the legendary Tony Matterhorn and the world famous Black Chiney Sound from Miami, to name just two. The German Soundkillers collect trophy after trophy. Expect the unexpected! Soul Shakers It’s difficult to categorize these guys in only one genre, so it’s easier to compare them with a juicy & tropical burger. At the kitchen-controls you can find Mr Manray, chef and founding Soul Shakers member who prepares everything with care. The meat is definitely to be found in Jamaica, jerk chicken consisting of the best Reggae & Dancehall, topped with an underground sauce of UK Rap, Garage & Grime. Vegetables come straight from the motherland with none but the best Afrobeats. The bun is made in the good old US of A, a combination of old school and new skool Hiphop with some Trappy seeds. All of this comes with homegrown Belgian fries. This combo is served by the Master of Ceremony Tommy Milfnikka, a well experienced frontman known from the clashwinning collective Civalizee Foundation. Sound System History in One Fine Dish!
