Spend a few hours with them and then hit the dance at 92NY! PRICE $35 / 2hr workshop $55 / 4hr workshop REGISTRATION links below ========= Workshop limited to 16 couples (more details below) Workshops will start 15 min past the hour, and end 15 min before the hour to allow for social dancing (more details below) ========= 12-2PM SAVOY LEGENDS James “Blues” Outlaw and Jessica Samuels are the focus in this transcription class. We will work through examples of their effortless, but flashy, lindy-hop dancing — as featured in “The Spirit Moves.” If you attended our classes at Boston Tea Party, you might get about 40 minutes of review/practice while we reteach that material. LEVEL: This class is intended for experienced social dancers. Students who don’t know the 8-count swing-out should NOT attend. Be prepared for 6-count variations, 8-count variations, kicking, jumping, spinning, and optional lifts. ========= 2PM-4PM MAKIN’ MOVES We need your help! Work with us to invent a novel lindy hop combination. Along the way we will discover following and leading techniques, create new moves, and learn how to find new ideas mid-dance. Free yourself from pedantic, classroom thinking, and understand timing on your own terms. LEVEL: This class is intended for experienced social dancers. Students who don’t know the 8-count swing-out will struggle. Excess registrants will be waitlisted, in case demand warrants changing rooms. Paying at the door is fine, but no one will be admitted beyond the day-of occupancy limit. SCHEDULE NOTE: The day will begin late and end early, so students can enter and exit the studio. Each workshop segment will be approximately 105 minutes long. LOCATION NOTE: All classes will be held at Ripley Grier Studios 520 8th Ave 17I 12:00pm-4:00pm. Ripley Grier requires a photo ID for building admission.
