NCDC New Year's Dance Retreat (Winter Dance Camp)

Save the dates! We hope you will join us for another warm, sweet, creative and connected New Year's dance retreat at Redwood Glen in Loma Mar, California. Confirmed so far: Jo Cobbett will be joining us, as will Ryan Herr and J Brave! We've also got Shira Yaziv teaching contact improvisation, Mira Barakat teaching Tango Connection, plus Markinson and Laura teaching Kizomba, an African style of partner dance. And even more! Megan Lowe will teach contact improvisation, Gabriel and Candice will facilitate blindfolded contact, Ibou Ngom will teach African dance and drumming, and Renee Benmeleh will lead a vocal improv class. And just added -- Lu Baron will lead a vision collage class, and Alicia Lofgren Manoss will facilitate Authentic Relating! We're very sorry to say Cornflower has had to cancel due to a health issue in his family. The venue, Redwood Glen, has dorm cabins as well as hotel-style rooms with private bathrooms, a variety of spaces for our dance and movement classes, several fireplaces, and lots of opportunities for games and outdoor fun, including ping-pong tables, foosball, a tire swing, a horizontal net for climbing and bouncing, and a playground area for the little (or not so little) ones. It's about a 15-minute drive to the ocean, where you can enjoy the crashing of the waves and the pelicans flying by. There will be classes in a variety of yummy movement modalities, including things like Soul Motion, Open Floor, contact improvisation, partner dance, African dance, yoga, and more, as well as non-dance options including art and singing, plus nighttime dances and other festive events. The folks at Redwood Glen have resolved their water issues with the county and will now be able to cook on site. This is likely to result in a higher quality of food than last year; two years ago the food was quite good. Registration is open! Capacity is about 140 people, and last year we sold out, so sign up soon, especially if you would like a conference center room -- those tend to sell out quickly.
