Neotango DJ Contest

We invite all Neotango DJs to this DJ contest which will take place from 1/09 to 31/10! The winner will be invited to play at Rome Neotango Marathon 14-17 April 2017, he/she will receive free half board accommodation and a prize of €350 to cover transportation and other expenses. The jury of the contest will be well-known musicians, tango music producers and tango teachers: -Elio Astor (Neotango DJ and producer) -Miguel di Genova (Musician Otros Aires) -Vio Tangoforge (Tango teacher and performer) -Cedric Tellier (Tango teacher and dancer) HOW TO PARTICIPATE TO THE CONTEST: Send a 1 hour dj set (one single mp3 or m4a format file) to [email protected] and specify your name and willing to participate! :) CONTEST RULES: 1) We are accepting submissions from September 1st to October 31st 2016 2) The set should contain neotango contemporary and danceable music, in mp3 or aiff format. 3) The set file of each participant will be renamed to a number for blind judging 4) The participants list will not be published 5) The judges will give a score from 1 to 5 to the following parameters: -Mood variety -Danceability -DJing technique -Originality/Style Have fun, we look forward to your submissions!!!! Roma Neotango Marathon Team QUESTIONS: Q: Can i send just a playlist of songs? A: No, to evaluate the "Djing technique" and "Originality/Style" we accept only one MP3 or M4A file with a recorded set of about 1 hour. Q: Is it allowed to mix, rearrange already known songs or is it forbidden? A: Sure, the live mixing and djing techniques are part of the skills being evaluated Q: Do you accept breaks between songs or you want that one song sticks to the other without a break? A: Basically we want to evaluate how you could manage an evening and creatively live mix and alternate moods, it's not mandatory but it's preferred if you can mix the songs together. Q: Do you look for tanda (3 or 4 songs?) or just a song's list? A: A mix made of different danceable songs, in a good alternance of 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 tempo, all put together to create a neotango mood, as you would do in a dancefloor full of open minded dancers Q: Neuvo vals or milonga is accepted or not? A: Sure, see previous answer Q: Is there a table of djs who participate? A: No, only the winner name will be disclosed
