Friday Late Night: 1am-3am: Late night dance (2120 Port St) Saturday Afternoon: Street dancing to buskers in the French Quarter! Saturday Evening: 6pm-10pm: (location TBA) BBQ, craw-fish boil, music and dance in the park! Saturday Night: 11pm-3am: Warehouse dance party (2120 Port St) **Live band-—Bon Bon Vivant** Sunday 10am-12pm: brunch and round table discussion on music and dance history in New Orleans. (2120 port st) 12pm-4:00pm: Checking out the Second Line parade, a proud New Orleans tradition—booty shaking brass band style. Sunday Night 8pm-11pm: Allways Lounge swing/blues dance (2240 St Claude Ave). We are joining up with the New Orleans weekly swing dance to dance to a live band playing swing and blues at a favorite local venue! Sunday Late Night: 12am-3am: bar hopping or Late night dance (2120 Port St) We want you to come dance with us! If you'd like to give $5-10 for each dance at the door we'd appreciate it! Picture this: A bus load of blues and fusion dancers descend upon New Orleans. The Smoking Time Jazz Club, Bon Bon Vivant, and other local musicians conspire for a weekend of swinging, stomping, and groovingly good times. A vintage ballroom ornamented with crushed velvet and peeling plaster walls welcomes you to a weekend unlike any other. A late night warehouse fills with impromptu music jams and DJs from around the country. Hidden dance parties nestle themselves in City Park. We dance through the streets. We boil crawfish. We second line in a parade before swing dancing to our hearts content or tangoing to nuevo and alternative tandas in a classy Jazz venue. Recess dance events are beginning to span the globe with a Do-It-Ourselves community structure of cooking for each other, skill sharing, and creating and tearing down venue spaces. Usually put on outside of city landscapes, we are leaving the forests and mountains for New Orleans' special ambiance and musical spirit. Here’s some video tasters to inspire and entice.
