About this Event
The New Town Stomper will make another appearance at the Edinburgh Jazz 'n Jive Club. The sextet will present uplifting Rags, Trad and Old-Time Jazz and Blues from the 1900s to the 1930s. Amongst deep dives into the treasure trove of masterpieces, the ensemble also deliver old favourites as well as original tunes done with solid reverence to the Hot Roots and Pop music that became known as Jazz.
Expect music with a focus on early Jazz which is more suited for Swing dance styles like Balboa and Collegiate Shag, for Blues, Two-Step, Foxtrot and the likes. That said, there will also be some good tunes in the mix for dancing Lindy Hop.
The band's line-up for evening consists of Mike Summers on cornet and as vocalist, Matt Curtis on banjo and guitar and as vocalist, Murray Wham on clarinet and trombone, Ellen Mitschke on tuba, Lewis Forbes on piano and Jack Wilson on drums.
The Edinburgh Jazz 'n Jive Club offers on Fridays live Jazz music in a relaxed club house atmosphere, with a bar and an excellent, wooden dance floor. The music is generally suitable for dancing Foxtrot and Swing (Lindy Hop, Shag, Balboa). Come along to listen to superb Jazz and to dance the evening away!
No need to book in advance, just come along! The entry fee is £15 for non-members and £12 for members. Entry is free for accompanying carers and accompanied children.
