New Year Salsa Party (Wear White)

RCR hosts a Cuban Dance Party every 1st Saturday of the month at Lake Merritt Dance in Oakland. To kick off 2025 we’re throwing an All White New Year party. At 5:00pm, Ryan’s listening class will be devoted to percussive patterns — martillo of the bongó, marcha of the tumbadora (conga), and more to help dancers lock with the music while dancing a tiempo (on 1), a contratiempo (on 2), and on 3. Then at 6:15pm Or will offer a Rueda Eco/Timing class, where the different couples execute moves on different beats (e.g. alternating couples dancing on 1 and dancing on 5). Finally at 7:30pm we offer a 1-on-1 social dancing Salsa-Casino class (two separate levels taught in different rooms simultaneously. At all of our monthly parties we celebrate the birthdays of everyone born in that month. Contact us in advance if your birthday is in January and we’ll put you on the guest list for the party (workshops not included, see below). LMD is a PERFECT venue for dancing, featuring a smooth vintage hardwood dance floor with ample space to dance.
