What better way is there to celebrate the Holidays?๐๐ ... and work off some of those Holiday & tailgate calories at the same time? ๐ญ๐ ๐๐ค๐ช๐ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ฅฉ๐
... than by DANCING?? ๐
Consequently DanceSport Dupont Circle will offer another Dance-&-Learn social practice party from 5-8:30pm in the early evening of ๐๐New Year's๐ Day!
Join us for earlier beginner level mini-classes in Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Ballroom Foxtrot or Waltz ... (those attending decide which Ballroom dance ... maybe both by night's end), Swing (there are 4 styles of swing; East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop & Jive ... you decide which one ๐), Country / Western 2-step & Argentine Tango beginner basics from 5:00-6:30pm, followed by teacher-assisted social dancing & practice from 6:30-8:30pm.
Later in the evening ... some of our infamous apple pie ๐ฅง (or maybe cherry, or blueberry or even all 3 by Showtime ๐) warm & right from the oven with ๐ง ice cream ๐จ.
Come early or come later after dinner or a movie, but COME! A great Holiday date night where all are welcome, including singles, couples, same-gender couples & the sight & hearing impaired. Wheelchair elevator access is available.
Schedule:
5-5:30pm:
A) Basic Salsa (Jovanny)
B) Beginner Ballroom Foxtrot or Waltz(Terry) with 2 teachers at once separated by portable mirrors on the 2000 sq ft dance floor.
5:30-6pm:
A) Beginner Merengue (Jovanny)
B) Beginner Argentine Tango (Terry)
6-6:30pm:
A) Country 2-step (Terry)
B) Beginner Bachata? or ChaChaCha? (Jovanny). Maybe both in mini-lessons by the end of the evening.
6:30-8:30pm: Teacher-assisted social dancing to all of the above styles of music (plus definitely some Disco Hustle ๐๐บ๐ฅฐ) by request.
Any teachers are welcome to attend without charge ... the more teaching talent we have to assist and help newcomers for a fun and non-intimidating space to get their feet wet during this down time, all the better!
Parking & transportation:
There is none better in all of downtown DC ...
1) Unlimited free parking in our 2 parking lots + free street parking in adjacent Embassy Row after 6:30pm rush hour, all weekend long & during Holidays.
2) 7 metro bus lines within 0, 1 & 2 blocks from all directions of the city.
3) Metro rail:
Walk 2 blocks from the northern Q St exit of the Dupont Circle red line metro, or a short bus ride from the South Dupont Circle exit on the G2 or D2 at 20th & P.
JOIN US, whether to pick up the basics in some new dances or just practice the ones you already know. Bring a practice partner or come solo as we will be switching partners, and wind down the Christmas Holiday OUT on the dance floor!
Fee:
One $15 group class can be purchased online at DanceSportDupont.com or use one of our 5 & 10-class discount passes. You can also pay by cash or by venmo with the QR code onsite. Dress is comfortable and informal to taste.
