Born and raised in Milwaukee, Michelle has been dancing jazz and ballet most of her life. She earned her B.A in Dance and Entrepreneurship at Columbia College Chicago while simultaneously developing her career in Latin dance. After 3 years of training and performing with professional chicago salsa company, MMA Pro, she went on to pursue training with international artists abroad. She has 5+ experience years in teaching, choreographing and professionally producing her own works. She has maintained several dance residencies, performing and co-producing shows in Chicago’s most upscale venues. Michelle continues to develop her work in her hometown of Milwaukee. She is a fusion artist, merging techniques from her dance background into her niche area of specialty in ladies salsa styling. As an artist and entrepreneur, Michelle’s mission is to help other artists gain belief in creating and sustaining the creative lifestyle they desire. Artist Biography: Sydney Schiff Sydney Schiff is a life-long classically trained contemporary dancer, choreographer, teacher, and scholar with an MFA in Dance from the University of Michigan (where she also co-founded ZoukMi). Since she fell head-over-heels in love with Brazilian Zouk 6 years ago, she has traveled the world to study and teach this delicious and diverse dance. Shortly before the pandemic, she settled in Chicago where she started Newport Zouk University, Chicago's only regular 100% Zouk party with two levels of drop-in classes. In addition, she is a solo performer and the director of Evolución Latina Dance Company ELEMENTS Contemporary dance and performance team. Drop in on Mondays for Contemporary, every other Wednesday for Zouk, catch her for privates in Chicago and on tour, and keep an eye out for her workshops, shows, and social dancing at Zouk and Latin Dance events. For the first 15 months of the pandemic, she taught daily online solo training classes for z Zoukers to keep people moving, motivated, and connected around the world.
