Nottenera Festival: Summer Residency & Performance

(di seguito versione in Italiano) ENGLISH Residency workshop combining Contact Improvisation, Taichi, Tango, Voice & Movement into Physical theatre Festival NOTTENERA: NIGHT FABULISTS “Telling stories that people believe in is the foundation of a bigger society” “When stories manage to make people cooperate and work together it gives them immense power” “An imagined reality is something that everyone believes in, and as long as this communal belief per-sists, the imagined reality exerts power in the world.” From “Sapiens, a brief history of Humankind” Y. Hariri We are coming to realise, as human beings, that the stories we have believed in have caused dra-matic changes on the whole Earth. Among other concepts we have believed in the separation be-tween Man/Woman and Nature, and in that way, we created and then became ruled by a primitive form of industrial consumerism. This extravagant belief is miles away from the reality we are now slowly coming to accept: that we have been created by, and we live because of our close interdependence with all living beings. With movement, words, sounds, music and theatre, we will create and reconstruct our communal stories to nourish a deepening connection between ourselves and all things alive and not. For one week, (12-20th August), we will create an ephemeral community, allowing the complexities and contradictions of connections to manifest, exercising a pluralistic open mind through sharing and mainly, through exploring diverse ways of storytelling. Where does our stories meet and do they? How can we find moments of unity and moments of di-versity and yet still nourish communication and acceptance? To invent, rediscover and communicate our stories, we will draw upon: elements of contact im-provisation, martial arts, voice movement and symbolic action, music, ecological concepts, stories composition, and shadow theatre. PROGRAM This week residency workshop will be developed partly in the farm house Il Canto del Bosco (www.cantodelbosco.it ), enjoying its gardens, pool and the forests that surround it. And partly in the rehearsal space in the medieval village of Serra de’ Conti, in between Le Marche hills in Italy. The performance will be shared during Nottenera Festival in Serra de’ Conti (AN), Italy. (www.nottenera.it ) Note: It is not mandatory to participate in the final performance. It is only 10 mins by car to Serra de’ Conti. Dinners have already been arranged at a cost of 9E for vegetarians and 8E for not vegetari-ans The accommodation cost varies in relation to the bedroom. It goes from 15€/night/person to 30€/night/person. Once we arrived to 15 participants there are also some limited num-ber of tents possible for a cost of 8€/night/person. BIOGRAPHIES JAVIER CURA After 20 years of researching, experimenting and teaching, Javier Cura has developed a me-thodical approach to movement in general applying it specifically to Physical theatre, mar-tial arts, Contact Improvisation and Tango teaching. He has condensed into this system his experience in different fields and art forms ranging from Visual arts, Theatre, Bioenergetics, Somatic Movement and Linguistics. He has been one of the generators of the Contactango form which combines the possibilities of Contact Improvisation and Tango. As a performer, choreographer, artist or teacher you can find him at Fabrik Potsdam Tanztage in Germany, Farma Dance Theatre Festival and Alchemie Tango in Prague, C.I.R.A in Strasbourg, as well as in Contact Impro Festivals in Freiburg, Goettingen (Germany), or San Francisco (USA). He has collaborated with the Berlin Free University on a research about expression in Contact Improvisation and Movement. He has also dedicated himself to researches in anthropologi-cal and sociological themes developing them in social theatre projects in Italy, Morocco and Germany. She works with voice and body, theatre and music. Hariri. Siamo ormai giunti a capire, come esseri umani, che le storie nelle quali abbiamo creduto fin’ora hanno causato drammatici cambiamenti sull’intera Terra. Tra le tante convinzioni che possediamo, c’è anche quella della separazione fra uomo/donna e natura: in questo modo abbiamo creato una prima forma di consumismo industriale e da essa siamo stati dominati. Questa stravagante convinzione è molto lontana dalla realtà che stiamo solo cominciando a intravedere ed accettare, ovvero, che siamo stati creati, e allo stesso tempo viviamo, grazie all’interdipendenza fra tutte le creature viventi. Con il movimento, le parole, i suoni, la musica ed il teatro, creeremo e ricostruiremo le nostre storie condivise per dare vita ad una profonda connessione fra noi stessi e tutto ciò che ci circonda, vivente o meno. Per una settimana (12-20 Agosto), creeremo un’effimera comunità, permettendo alla complessità e alle contraddizioni insite nelle nostre relazioni di manifestarsi, cercando di aprire maggiormente le nostre menti attraverso la condivisione e, soprattutto, attraverso le diverse accezioni della narrazione. Dove si incontrano le nostre storie? Si incontrano davvero? Come possiamo attraversare momenti di unione e momenti di diversità e ancora far vivere la comunicazione e l’accettazione? Per inventare, riscoprire e comunicare le nostre storie, attingeremo a elementi di Contact Improvisation, arti marziali, movimento-voce e azione simboliche, musica, concetti di ecologia, composizione di storie e teatro delle ombre. PROGRAMMA Questa settimana di seminario residenziale sarà sviluppata in parte nell’agriturismo Il Canto del Bosco, godendo dei suoi giardini, della piscina e del bosco circostante, e in parte in una sala prove nel piccolo borgo medievale di Serra de’ Conti, tra le colline marchigiane in Italia. La performance finale sarà condivisa la notte del 19 Agosto durante Nottenera il Festival dei linguaggi artistici contemporanei a Serra de’ Conti (AN), Italia (www.nottenera.it ) Nota: Non è obbligatorio partecipare alla performance finale. Si trova a circa 10 minuti di auto da Serra de’ Conti. Il costo dell’alloggio va da 15€ a 30€ a notte /persona in base alla tipologia di sistemazione. Sono inoltre disponibili alcuni limitati posti tenda al costo di 8€ a notte/persona nel caso in cui si superassero i 15 iscritti. BIOGRAFIE JAVIER CURA: Dopo 20 anni di ricerca, sperimentazione e insegnamento, Javier Cura ha sviluppato un approccio metodico al movimento in generale, applicandolo a teatro fisico, arti marziali, Contact Improvisation e tango. In questo sistema è confluita la sua esperienza in diversi campi e forme d’arte, dalle arti visuali al teatro, alla bioenergetica, al movimento somatico e alla linguistica. È stato uno dei creatori del Contact tango, in cui si combinano le possibilità espressive della Contact Improvisation e del tango. Come performer, coreografo, artista o insegnante lo si ritrova al Fabrik Potsdam Tanztage in Germania, al Festival di teatro Farma Dance, ad Alchemie Tango Praga, al C.I.R.A. di Strasburgo, così come ai Contact Impro Festival di Friburgo, Goettingen (Germania), o San Francisco (USA). Ha collaborato con la Libera Università di Berlino (Freie Universität Berlin) a una ricerca sull’espressione nella Contact Improvisation e nel movimento. Si è dedicato a progetti di teatro antropologici e sociali in Italia, Marocco e in Germania.
