About this Event

Olivia and Fernando ( https://www.facebook.com/Oliviatango ) , the wonderfully energetic and musical Brazilian tango couple, are visiting SLC for a few days during their months-long US tour. We will get the first chance to meet the two amazing tangueros on Sunday at a Special Birthday Milonga! They couldn't find time to see us over a whole weekend, so instead of the classic weekend workshop, we are organizing a series of small-group classes from Monday to Thursday July 14-17. It is a developing series of lessons on musicality and phrasing, tailored to different flavors of music (Romantic Tangos - Understand how to dance richly and elegantly even when your partner's dance is flat; Spicy Tangos - How to add spice when you have boring moves from your partner (both roles); Milonga's Phrasing - How to dance milonga in a relaxed way, moving away from the boring beat, alternating Milonga Lisa, Milonga Traspié and melody elements; Complexity of Pugliese; Toolkits for Counterpoints and for interpreting the most memorable musical moments... We plan to use the home studios of Nicholas Walker and Mark and Lorraine Christensen on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and Garbett Center (pre-practica class) on Wednesday. The private studio space is limited, please message to sign up for classes which will start at 6:30 each night, and continue at 8 pm if the first class fills to capacity ($30 a small-group class). Private classes are available, please contact me or email Olivia directly.
