About this Event
This workshop is intended for college or other types of students who have the desire and or intention to teach, organize, and lead in their respective dance clubs. It is specifically intended for students looking forward to be officers or currently officers of their clubs. The goal is to engage, expose, and educate students properly in order to enable them to create sustainable and growing dance clubs through dance instruction, theory, technique, planning, coordination, concept and theory as well as expose them to specific challenges in leadership and organization.

We ask each club send 2-3 people (more if you have a lot of seriously commuted people.)
Please bring a copy of your schools funding policies, two things your club wants to improve on or resolve, note taking materials, danceable attire, and dance shoes. Bring food if you want for the 8-9pm hour.
Instructors :
Stephanie Rae has been dancing for over 10 years and started focusing on Jazz Dance History about five years ago. She prides herself in incorporating Jazz History in her lessons and focusing on the communication and cooperationaspects of dance culture. She views teaching swing dance as a historical preservation project as well as a “living and evolving” dance.
Freeman Bacon is a professional swing and jazz dancer specializing in Lindy Hop and Charleston as well as other dances of the Jazz Era. His passion has taken him around the U.S., as well as to Sweden and France, to train, compete, perform, and instruct. He also has several years’ experience teaching dance to younger age groups, from 4 to 19 years old, primarily in public schools. Freeman does supplementary training in many styles including Blues / Slow Drag, Collegiate Shag, West Coast Swing, Fusion, and funk styles such as Poppin’ and Hip Hop.
Freeman is fascinated with many aspects of vernacular dance including rhythm, shape, energy, and motion. He reveres the roots of swing and jazz dance while simultaneously experimenting with new ideas. He is known for being engaged with his students and loves to see new dancers enter the world of swing. Locally, you can find him teaching and dancing weekly with Boulder Swing Dance in Boulder, Colorado on Monday nights.
Freeman also enjoys event administration and management and has helped organize and run some of the major events in Colorado such as Mile High Blues, Lindy on the Rocks, Lindy Diversion, and Rocky Mountain Balboa Blowout. Freeman can provide web design and administration services to build and maintain websites and social media for dance events and organizations.
