About this Event
With a history of over 7000 years, Qigong is an ancient Chinese traditional method that includes a wide range of techniques that aim to heal, maintain the state of health, attain longevity, develop the human potential functions and create harmony.
Qigong is usually translated as „cultivation of the energy” or „mastery of the life force”.
Qigong techniques can be static or dynamic, combined with specific breathing patterns and focused concentration. Moreover, qigong includes different types of meditation and relaxation exercises.
This workshop is an introduction to some of the basic Qigong techniques – QilinGong style, and is centered on two main concepts in Qigong: Intention and Energy. We will practice together a new way to relate to our own bodies, we will exercise our intention in correlation to the movements of the body and we will learn how to feel the energy.
More specific, we will learn together the following techniques:
1. Warm-up exercises – a special Shaolin technique for warming up the body and relaxing the mind for further qigong exercises
2. Collecting Qi (qi = energy)
3. La Qi Fa – a technique for increasing the internal energy
4. Stimulating a few energy points for strengthening the body
Note: depending on the participants, the program could suffer small changes.
All the above techniques have been selected in order to make a difference for heavy duty tango dancers ☺.
For this workshop please wear sports clothes and sports shoes (preferably flat), or very loose clothing. All techniques will be done standing.
The trainer for this workshop is Horia Horotan. He is a Qigong trainer authorised by the National Qigong Federation of Romania, with more than 10 years of training experience. He is also a tango dancer.
