DM me for details🙃 ____________________ About Brad! : Brazilian Zouk found Brad by chance in October of 2010. He quickly fell in love with freedom and flow of the dance and started intensive training. After roughly a year training locally in Knoxville, TN, he was brought on as an assistant instructor at ZoukEra dance company. To further his dance knowledge, Brad spent the next four years traveling both across the country and internationally to train with as many artists as possible, something he still does today as he believes dance knowledge is never complete. In 2014, Brad founded his own company, Armada Zouk, which now hosts weekly classes and socials in Knoxville and Asheville. In addition to dance, he has earned a PhD in biomedical engineering with a focus in biomechanics. This gives Brad a unique background in truly understanding how the body is designed to move and function, providing many insights into the realm of dance. After completing the doctoral program, he spent May and June of 2016 training in Sao Paulo in Rio De Janeiro with multiple instructors including Renata Peçanha, the founder of zouk. After leaving Brazil, he spent the next two months hosting an intensive 8 week, 32 hour series in Kona, Hawaii, a city which he returns to frequently to help continue the growth of the local students. In November of 2017, Brad completed a NeoZouk techniques instructor certification course with Marco (Mafie Zouker) Mendonça so that he can help grow both Rio Style Zouk and NeoZouk techniques throughout the country and internationally. In May of 2019, Brad further continued his training by completing the 50 hour Master Braz ELITE Certificate Course. While continuing to run Armada Zouk, Brad began working with Pasion Project dance studios in Key West in 2019. In October of 2019, he performed in the Key West Fantasy Fest Parade in a dance routine influenced heavily by Lambada. He returned to Key West to teach at Pasion Project from July to November of 2020. Most recently, he performed as a principal dancer and actor in “Bum Farto - The Musical” at the Key West Theater in 2021 and 2022. Short Bio: Brad Meccia is the founder and head instructor at Armada Zouk Dance LLC, Knoxville’s longest running zouk company. Armada Zouk currently features 4 hours of weekly classes which includes 4 levels of social dancing classes and weekly socials as well as instructing weekly classes in Asheville, NC. He has trained throughout the US and Brazil, where his time training with Renata Peçanha helped to develop his Rio Zouk style. In addition to Rio Style, Brad has completed a NeoZouk techniques instructor certification with Marco “Mafie Zouker” Mendonça and the Master Braz ELITE Certificate Course. Outside of dance, Brad received a PhD in biomedical engineering with a focus in biomechanics. This provides unique insights into movement of the body which allow his instruction to really break down the biomechanics of different motions on a joint-by-joint and muscle-by-muscle basis.
