About this Event

Help creating the Copenhagen Lindy Exchange! The Copenhagen Lindy Exchange is, much like a big part of the swing dance community, run by volunteers. Not only during the event itself, but especially in the months leading up to the event. This is where you come into the picture: We’re looking for some coordinators who can help plan and execute some different types of tasks leading up to the exchange in May. And so, you are invited to an open organizer meeting on January 20th. At the meeting, we’ll give a short introduction to the different tasks, explain how the organizing group will work, answer questions about the different roles, and hopefully have an overall good time. Before that, you can check out a description of the different roles we hope to fill here: https://copenhagenlindyexchange.dk/help-create-the-magic-of-copenhagen-lindy-exchange. If you already know, you're interested in a specific role, help us by filling out this survey: https://forms.gle/GASSnhroWQZfLuak8. The existing organizer group is a mix of experienced organizers and active board members of SwingShoes. We’ve laid the foundation already, but we need more heads, hands, ideas and input to be able to pull off the exchange entirely. And to be clear: If you’re mainly interested in helping out during the event by i.e. manning the check-in desk, set up venue, take a shift or two in the vintage shop, we need you too. Just not right now. This meeting is for people interested in taking on some more responsibility and being part of the planning crew. We call these coordinators, or organizers. Some questions you might have: "But what if I can't join in person / that day?" Let us know! If there's many of you, we'll set up an online meeting another time. If it's fewer, we can set up a meeting. “What’s in it for me?” Well, besides the obvious answer that is “So much fun!”, we could also mention: - A community in the dance world that goes beyond the dance floor - Experience in organizing, project management, etc. - A look behind the scenes of what makes a good event - A sense of ownership of the exchange, making the event itself even more special - Good karma points “There’s this role I expected to see on your list that isn’t there! Where is it?” Maybe we missed something? Maybe we already have it covered? We’ll never find out if you don’t tell us :) There’s an option in the survey to cross off “Other”, feel free to use that and explain in text what you’re thinking. "What survey? I must have missed that part" Don't worry, it's right here: https://forms.gle/GASSnhroWQZfLuak8 “How much time will it take to join as organizer?” That really depends on what role you’re taking on. We plan on having one big organizer meeting once a month, sharing the progress and helping each other out. In between meetings there’ll also be some planning. Depending on the responsibility (and your working tempo), it can be anything between 1 to 10 hours per month. If you feel it’s becoming too much, let us know, and we will share the load.
