Partner Dance Fusion Workshop & Dance ft. Lazy Buoy

UPDATE: We are moving this event to Christina Chua’s house! Please send me a message to get the address. Hi pals, I’m super excited to teach this dance style for the FIRST TIME on Salt Spring. When I first started hanging out on Salt Spring I just thought to myself, “Wow, these folks are going to love Fusion Dance SOOO much.” Fusion Dance is a new-ish partner-dance style that is popular in many countries around the world. It started out as a playful way to combine all the different partner dances of the world - Blues, Tango, Swing, Kizomba, etc etc etc!! But over time it has evolved to be it’s own unique dance form as well. The main idea is, let's boil down all of the partner dances into their most basic essences of Frame and Connection… then let your creativity flow from there. But you don’t need ANY dance experience at all to enjoy Fusion! It’s a different style than Contact Improv, but Contact Improv dancers are guaranteed to love Fusion because it opens doors to an entirely new vocabulary of movement. 6:45 - Arrival, warm-up and stretching 7:00 - Dance Lesson by Barnacle Bex 8:00 - Lazy Bouy plays live music! (banjo and percussion) SHOW UP ON TIME so we can have some fun then get some sleep on a Sunday night 🙂 Admission: $15 - $20 sliding scale, pay-what-you-can. All Ages (suggested 10 & up. If you bring kids it’s best if they also bring a friend or two to dance with.) PS: You don’t need to bring your own partner. Everyone is welcome, as long as you respect peoples’ boundaries. It’s always ok to say “no thank you” when someone asks you to dance. This is not a gendered dance. Shoes: Literally anything you feel comfortable dancing in. Socks work fine too.
